Join Us

We invite you to join the Groton Open Space Association. Your $10 membership indicates to us your support in our mission to protect the natural wildlife habitats within Groton and Southeast Connecticut, and to protect inland waters and the waters joining Fishers Island and Long Island Sounds.

We invite members and potential members to join us in these and other GOSA activities:

  • Maintenance of  The Merritt Family Forest and The Sheep Farm
  • GOSA’s annual clean-up day at Haley Farm State Park, held each April, around Earth Day
  • Annual membership meeting and educational program, each October
  • Advocacy work, including testifying before town commissions, and government agencies, coordinating with state agencies and with conservation groups
  • Fund raising for current (Candlewood Ridge) and future land acquisition projects

Beyond paying the $10.00 membership fee, you may choose to donate to one of the following funds. We sincerely appreciate your support:

  • Land Acquisition Fund: Dedicated to open space land purchases, most recently Candlewood Ridge on Lambtown Road.
  • Haley Farm Maintenance Fund: Pays for annual mowing as noted above.
  • General fund: An unrestricted fund used to pay general expenses such as consultants’ fees, court fees, hall rental, copying and mailing fees.

All contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
